KLISMOS CHAIR

I made the chair as an exchange student at Carl Malmsten Furniture Studies in Stockholm. The task was to make a chair that can be taken apart and fit into the size of hand luggage for air travel, 56*45*25 cm.

The chair is an interpretation of the classical Greek Klismos- chair. The whole construction is held together by the simple weaving of the seat. Legs and backrest are made by bent lamination. The rear legs have an extra “twist” where they meet the backrest.

Materials: Ash, nylon tread, cotton cushion.

Finish: Wood soap.
